The Rare Birds Centre

In Japan, Kochi Prefecture is known as the home of unusual chickens. At this centre you can see the unusual and rare chickens of Nangoku, Tosa.
The centre is home to many birds designated as “natural monuments” such as the Onagadori (long-tailed fowl), the tailless "Uzurachabo" (Japanese bantam), the Small Shamo, the Ukkokei (Silky Fowl) and the Tosa Kukin. You can see the habitats of these rare birds.
The Onagadori is either silver, white or brown. In one year its tail grows about 1 metre and the most recent record for the longest tail is 8 metres.
